This past weekend, 25th May 2024, Fourways Martial Arts Academy hosted a 4Ways Karate Championship for the third time.
Every student, from as young as four to Veterans and Seniors, was invited to a development championship for those who have yet to achieve their District, Provincial, or National Colours.
Our tournament provided a supportive environment for our students to gain valuable tournament experience. It was a platform where they could compete without the pressure of facing ‘Elite Athletes’, fostering a sense of encouragement and motivation.
The divisions were minor, with 105 entries total from all 7 Dojos, such as Redhill Dojo, St. Stithians Dojo, Pinnacle College Dojo, Flamingo Dojo, 4Ways Garden Dojo, Noordtwyk Dojo, Midrand Dojo. This was a testament to our students having fun and where we can grow from here.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every member of 4Ways Dojo who contributed to the success of the event. Your efforts in refereeing and table officiating were invaluable, and I am especially grateful to Sensei Roberta for her role as the Chief Referee of the day.
The tournament was fair and very well judged by qualified and good referees. Sensei Roberta and Sensei Stef are incredibly proud of our students, and their results speak volumes. Again, I cannot stress enough what an achievement this is for some of our students’ first tournaments.
